Marie F. Gorwa-Grauslund, is professor at Applied Microbiology since 2009. She obtained a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Genetics in 1996 from INSA (National Institute of Applied Sciences) in Toulouse (F). After a post-doctoral fellowship at the Research Center of Lesaffre (F) on the development of stress-tolerant yeast, she integrated the division of Applied Microbiology as assistant professor (2000-2002) and associate professor (2002-2009).
Current projects involve
- developing pentose-fermenting and inhibitor-tolerant Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the production of bioethanol and other bulk chemicals of interest,
- understanding and improving stereo-selective whole cell bioreductions,
- identifying novel enzymatic activities for biocatalysis through metagenomics.
