Linda Jansson

Linda Jansson is a researcher at Applied Microbiology, in the areas of forensic DNA analysis and diagnostic PCR. She obtained her PhD degree at the Molecular Psychiatry Unit, Lund University, in 2011.

Linda is currently working in the pre-PCR processing project, which is a collaboration between Applied Microbiology and four Swedish national institutes: the National Forensic Center (NFC), the National Food Agency (Livsmedelsverket), the National Veterinary Institute (SVA) and the Swedish Institute for Defense and Security Issues (FOI).

These institutes all use PCR-based DNA analysis as a core in their routine work, and face similar problems regarding nucleic acid extraction and PCR inhibition in complex biological samples. The aim of the project is to improve the entire DNA analysis process chain, by developing efficient DNA extraction protocols and inhibitor-tolerant DNA polymerase-buffer systems.

Outside work, Linda enjoys playing floor ball, mountain biking and sewing children’s clothes.
