Applied Microbiology has the only available Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory in the Chemical Center where research is performed in a newly renovated and appropriate premise. The lab is suitable for work with pathogenic agents of moderate potential hazard to personnel and environment. Access to a BSL2-lab is a resource for both teaching and for other research groups that periodically is in need of a BSL2-lab.
