Peter Rådström

Peter Rådström, born in 1959, is professor and head of the Division of Applied Microbiology. He obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical (PhD) Sciences (Microbiology) in 1991 at the University of Uppsala. He is mainly involved in two different research fields: carbohydrate metabolism in lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and food safety research. The LAB research is mainly focused on the metabolic pathways involving disaccharide degradation, lactic acid formation and polysaccharide biosynthesis. The food safety research is in particular focused on diagnostic PCR and virulence-determinant expression of food-borne pathogens in food matrices as a step towards formulating new strategies for food preservation and risk assessment.
